The Government must urgently protect the homeless from Coronavirus.
•Ensure that existing homeless shelters are following government guidelines to make facilities clean and safe.
•Provide safe dignified shelters for homeless people in dis-used businesses such as hotels and B&Bs.
•Help fund food banks as they meet the growing need of a new homeless population.
The Homeless population are extremely vulnerable, now more than ever. We have been advised by the government to stay at home-but what about those who don’t have one? Homeless people are amongst the most vulnerable and are at high risk. Many of them suffer long term illnesses and many live within close proximity to one another. Current accommodation such as homeless shelters are inadequate and risk spreading the virus. Morally the Government must protect the most vulnerable.
