Petition Action

BTEC students to be treated equally to A-Level students and get predicted grade.

Petition Details

Students who are currently in their last year of BTEC subjects should be treated equally to those who where completing A-level subjects. As students we are assessed throughout the year and so it would be easy to give us a grade. As a group, we are all stressed-feeling the pressure and uncertainty.

Additional Information

To add to the stress of Coronavirus we are still completing our assignments from home with no teachers to teach us the content and are left to our own devices to get ourselves the grades that we need for university. If we where able to stop our studies it would relieve a lot of stress as well as mean that we could work more in key sectors and help out our fellow citizens. It a huge stress to have 20 plus assignments to do on top of effects from the crisis whilst our peers have finished studies.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the Government's announcement about what will happen to exams here: www.gov.uk/government/news/further-details-on-exams-and-grades-announced

Ofqual has stated that it is working with awarding organisations to finalise a list of qualifications that we will advise the Secretary of State should be in scope for learners to receive a calculated result, and this will include many BTEC Nationals: www.gov.uk/government/news/awarding-vocational-and-technical-qualifications-this-summer
