Petition Action

Financial help for workers made redundant due to COVID-19

Petition Details

On Thursday 19th March, myself and several others jobs were terminated due to the impact of COVID-19. Friday 20th, the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme was announced. Our company will not apply for the scheme on our behalf. I would like the government to allow us to apply as individuals, please.

Additional Information

There is a loop hole in the help that the government are providing to workers affected by COVID-19. At the moment, only businesses can apply for the help from the government to help cover 80% of the workers monthly wage. The company I work for have refused to apply for it on our behalf. We have lost our jobs due to no fault of our own and we need help in these difficult times. Please allow terminated/redundant workers to apply for the scheme!
