Halt shareholder dividends if wages are threatened or corporations need bailouts
Have a cut off point in terms of what is considered profit and therefore available as payouts to shareholders, when there is a national emergency or when a companies future is in jeopardy. They should be using all available funds to stay afloat the same as is expected of the self employed.
Why should large corporations such as virgin and weatherspoons pay out large dividends to shareholders in 'profit' whilst halting wages and then requiring bail out packages from the government? It seems ludicrous that we don't have any legislation to stop this type of disaster capitalism.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about the payment of dividends are a matter for individual companies, not the Government or Parliament.
We have published a petition calling on the Government to restrict Government support for Covid-19 to dividend-paying companies, which you might like to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/306053
