Petition Action

Call upon UK universities to mitigate student financial losses due to rent/bills

Petition Details

To request the Government to ask all UK universities to release students from their accommodation contractual obligations for the remainder of the academic year. They should also mitigate the financial losses of students in private tenancies who are expected to pay rent/bills until the end of the yr

Additional Information

UK universities have moved to online tuition as a result of Covid-19. There is no need for most UK home students to remain in the location of their university. Most UK students have returned home. This is beneficial for most students who will have family support at home, particularly against a background of lock down.

Students in University/non University accommodation should not have to fully bear the financial burden arising out of contractual obligations until the end of the academic year
