Current status: Rejected
Rejection code: irrelevant (see below for details)
2nd year of degree not to count towards the overall degree for 19/20 2nd year
To make the second year of the degree not count towards the overall degree classification and final marks, for 2019/20 second year students at universities in the U.K.
Due to the Coronavirus students are unable to sit university exams at the end of the academic year. Degrees comprised of group work are difficult to complete due to the current situation, meaning the standard of work is compromised. Also not being able to meet with teachers face to face makes it more difficult to seek help when needed. Finally teaching quality online is poor compared to physical lectures which are more interactive and more useful.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about university teaching, assessments and exams are a matter for individual universities, and decisions about university admissions are a matter for individual universities and UCAS, not the UK Government or Parliament.
If you have concerns about admissions you should raise these with UCAS, and if you have concerns about your university's arrangements for teaching and assessment you should raise these with your university or the Office for Students, which regulates the higher education sector.
We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
