Allow students who have moved home due to COVID-19 to exit housing contracts.
Many students across the country have had to move home and out of their student housing due to the compulsory closure of universities following COVID-19. This is a petition to allow these students to nullify their housing contracts and stop paying rent to private landlords.
Many students rely on part time jobs to cover the costs of a housing contract and with many out of work often with no pay, people are left unable to pay their rent. Furthermore at this time of uncertainty many students will be also paying towards bills, rent and food at home meaning they are paying for bills in two locations.

Suspending payments or providing refunds for tuition fees and rent are a matter for individual universities and landlords, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
