Petition Action

All political candidates should be required to make pre-election promises under oath before they can stand

Additional Information

As a requirement of standing in any general, council or bi-election all candidates should be required to state their party or personal (in the case of independents) manifestos and any promises to the local population they are then (if elected) bound to these promises for the duration of the term.

If these promises are explicitly broken (rather than left unfulfilled) (to explain if candidate A promises something then votes agent it that is an explicit break, if they veto say as ‘the terms of a coalition’ then it is unfulfilled).

The sentence should be no less than 5, perhaps 10, years imprisonment, with no maximum sentence and lifelong disqualification from taking public office as this is no less than treason against the electorate.
