Improve the aid extended to self-employed people unable to work due to Covid-19
Make the aid offered to self-employed people unable to work due to Covid-19 on a par with the aid offered to those on PAYE i.e. remove the following inclusion criteria i) cap of >£50k p/a ii) those who have recently become self-employed.
Self-employed people pay taxes and NI, just as people on PAYE. With the current aid offered, many self-employed people will fall through the gaps, unable to meet living expenses. Just because some self-employed earn over £50k p/a or have only just become self-employed does not mean they have savings or the means to sustain living expenses,
