Treat Sole Traders and Limited Company Self Employed the same in COVID-19 funds!
You told us your Self Employed Income Support scheme would help 95% of self employed, that is not true. Over a third of self employed in the UK are set up as limited companies. This scheme does not help us! In order to get help we need to “furlough” ourselves and stop making the business any money!
Majority of limited companies are set up to differentiate assets from business and personal. So our homes are not at risk if things go wrong. Yet we are now being told the only way to get support is to NOT make any money for the company and furlough ourselves on 80% of a minimum salary whilst ignoring any dividends (majority of our income!) we have given ourselves! Why are we not being treated the same as sole traders. We pay income tax and corporation tax too! For many of us, this is game over!
