Businesses to be paid to terms on all invoices for next 3 months as a minimum

Petition Details

Government to pass a law that forces all businesses must pay all supplier invoices within their agreed terms. This will allow monies to pass down the line ensuring that a higher percentage of the nation begin to get money sooner.

Additional Information

I am writing to you to express my very deepest concern about many many companies (but not all). They are sending out emails to their supply chain businesses saying that they will not be paying invoices due to the current state of the economic climate.

I don’t need to tell you that if this continues then the economy as we know it will no longer exist.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Contractual payment terms are the responsibility of those bound by the contract, and can be enforced by the courts, rather than the Government or Parliament.

You could start a petition calling for legal maximum payment times, or fines for failing to meet payment terms, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
