Covid19 help for self employed people who started a business after 6 April 2019
Provide benefits for self employed people who started a business after 6 April 2019. In the region of in excess of 600,000 people are likely not to qualify for the help recently announced by the government for self employed people, because they have not previously filed accounts.
The cliff edge should be addressed. For people who can prove self employed income from 6 April 2019 (for example, through contracts and bank statements) who are affected by Covid19 crisis and who will file a tax return for 2019/2020, they should be provided with support that mirrors the support available to other self employed people. For example, they should receive a grant of up to 80% of the profit shown on their tax return once filed with HMRC.
