Petition Action

Mandatory not optional for employers to take up wage retention scheme.

Petition Details

Employers should be required by law to take up the wage retention scheme for 3 months during this pandemic.

This is particularly applicable to industries directly affected, such as aviation or those employers stating financial security or loss due to the virus, as some employers.

Additional Information

Employers are still afraid of the length of this pandemic and are stating financial insecurity due to the pandemic as a reason to lay-off as they are unwilling to take the risk of when their business model could again become profitable, which is immoral. I would encourage parliament to enforce key industries or any employer stating financial issues as a reason in redundancy be enforced to take up a mandatory 3 month trial of the wage retention scheme prior to being able to enforce a redundancy.
