Raise basic income tax by 1% to raise the wages of NHS workers
NHS workers are the most important people dealing with the Covid-19 crisis.
These amazing people are now putting their very lives at risk to save all of us and they need to be recognised and appreciated. We need to raise income tax in order to provide better wages
Staff shortages have been endemic for years in the NHS. In economics terms, in a properly functioning market prices (here wages) would rise in the face of the lack of supply. In layman’s terms you pay more, you fill the vacancies and relieve the pressure on the system.
The public recognise the amazing job the NHS are doing. It’s time they are rewarded
