Petition Action

Extend the date of eligibility of furlough set on employers from 28/02 to 20/03.

Petition Details

Change the furlough eligibility date set on employers from 28/02 to 20/03 (when the scheme was announced) in order to protect all jobs. People are still at risk of redundancies and unpaid leaves if they have started new roles recently.

Additional Information

Further to the announcement of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, the government has now set a criterion of eligibility only for employees on payroll on 28/02. This needs to be changed to the day when the scheme was announced in order to protect all jobs. There are still many people still at risk of redundancies by having chosen to start new employment before the outbreak started. Many are left in limbo due to this criteria and are unable to claim anything.
