Include 19/20 newly self employed in the scheme if returns filed before May 31st
Those who have recently began self-employment in the 2019/20 tax year are not being helped by the government
As the Self-employment income support scheme is not launching until June, I wish the government to consider these individuals as part of the scheme if they file their returns by 31 May 2020.
Many newly self employed have left well paid PAYE jobs to lunch their own businesses. Most will not survive on Universal Credit, if they are eligible at all. Especially not for three months.
Is it not reasonable to provide a two month window for these individuals to submit their returns soonest after 5 April 20 so HMRC have their data?
Those SE under the CIS scheme have their income reported monthly to HMRC so this information is also readily available even without the filing of this return.
