Petition Action

Pay a grant of £1000.00 per month, to the newly self-employed.

Petition Details

This grant is less than the minimum wage when calculated at 8.21 p.h. X 39 hours less 20%. It is appreciated that it is difficult to calculate the earnings of the self employed without previous self assessment tax returns having been submitted, but this offers a means of providing support.

Additional Information

Individuals who have yet to submit a FULL years self-employment self assessment tax return should be included in the package of Government support.

Individuals have chosen, for various reasons self-employment. The reasons are varied but difficulty in finding employment, or suitable employment is just one. They have chosen to invest in themselves, have purchased tools and equipment, entered into committments with future returns expected. This group will not have the benefit of past profits to fall back on.

Although it is difficult to calculate earnings without previous tax returns, this should not justify the Government excluding this group from support.
