Petition Action

Hold the PM accountable for the waste of taxpayers' money on coronavirus letter

Petition Details

Boris Johnson is writing to every UK household, which is a huge waste of resources at these hours of need. It has no use and MPs should raise questions on this matter. The PM should answer for his actions. The ordinary taxpayers would like to know the justification of such misuse of public funds.

Additional Information

The Prime Minister should be held accountable for such misuse of public funds, which could be put to better use in many essentials such as our decade long underfunded NHS. At this time of health crisis that also has an associated possibility of a financial crisis looming ahead. As the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is expected to justify his actions of luxury that has no impact on the outbreak itself, only a burden on the shoulder of the treasury. The matter deserves to be debated in parliament.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you want the Prime Minister's decision to write to every UK household to be investigated, but it's not clear exactly what you want to happen. Individual MPs are responsible for the questions they ask of Ministers, and it is not clear how you want the Prime Minister to be held accountable.

We have published a petition calling for the Government to hold a Public Inquiry into the handling of the Covid-19 crisis: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/302576
