Petition Action

COVID19 support for small, one director companies earning below £50,000.

Petition Details

As a one person director company I would have to declare Furlough to be eligible for the Job Retention Scheme - 80% of the minimum wage I pay myself, which would be £539.25 per month. I want the government to offer the same support awarded to freelancers/sole traders - 80% of average total earnings.

Additional Information

Currently the Job Retention Scheme doesn't go far enough to support small, one director companies. Furlough is not an option for a one person business. We need to keep our profile up, keep promoting services and be there for our clients at all times (even when there's no work) to increase our chances of retaining future work when we get through this. Furlough won't allow us to do this, as all business would have to cease, which means if we don't furlough there is no financial support at all.
