Government to financially support self-employed from the 2019-2020 tax year
This petition asks to include those who became self-employed in the 2019-2020 tax year. This group are able to file an Income Tax Self Assessment tax return after 6th April 2020. The Government could use these in order to calculate how much money an individual is owed.
Currently, the Government will allow the self-employed to claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months. This however only applies to those who filed an Income Tax Self Assessment tax return for the tax year 2018-2019. I urge the Government to include the self employed from 2019-2020 tax year in this support, who are feeling very anxious, desperate and struggling to make ends meet. Universal Credit will not suffice.
