Civil Enforcement Officers to not be categorised as a key worker during Covid-19
We as Civil Enforcement Officers would like to know how and why we are categorised as an key worker due too not understanding how being on road and issuing parking tickets or doing customer service is essential when people are already frightened to be outside let alone coming outside.
We are constantly getting verbal abuse from the member of public. People are extremely aggressive and we are scared from our own health. Can we please come to an conclusion that we are not essential workers and we do need to be home against this fight with covid-19

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government's list of essential workers includes local government staff who are critical to the effective delivery of the coronavirus response, or delivering essential public services. It is up to individual local authorities to determine which staff this applies to. However, this designation is only relevant in determining which workers are able to access schools or other educational settings, and priority testing.
The Government's advice to all employers is that employees who can work from home should do so, but non key workers can still be required to attend to work by their employers.
If you want the Government to prevent employers from being able to require non key workers from attending work, you could start a new petition calling for this.
