Petition Action

All universities across the UK should follow the same guidelines (COVID-19)

Petition Details

Government intervention may be necessary to ensure fairness for employment after graduation by implementing the same systems across the UK.

Additional Information

Due to the pandemic, many students are facing difficult circumstances. Though still are told by their university that exams must be sat, and coursework needs completing.
Each university is addressing the situation accordingly, though this may result in disadvantages for some and advantages for others.
Future employers will understand the circumstances, so all university students should follow exactly the same guidelines - so there aren’t students from select universities whom benefit.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about university teaching, assessments and exams are a matter for individual universities, not the UK Government or Parliament.

If you have concerns about your university's arrangements for teaching and assessment you should raise these with your university or the Office for Students, which regulates the higher education sector.

We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
