Remove university accommodation fees from 1st March 2020- end of contract.
Support should be given to students that are renting from university accommodation. Lectures have been cancelled and the services that university accommodation provide have decreased, for example, closure of common rooms. Some students have also been forced to move.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak many students are facing financial pressures and stress. Many students have also returned home and are no longer living in student accommodation. There has been no clarity from the government in terms of what measures they have put in place to aid students during these times. The removal of university accommodation fees from at least the start of March till the end of the academic year would provide closure for many university students and aid financially.
