Give students a choice to achieve their predicted grade or complete their degree
Across the UK, schools and colleges have been closed and GCSE and A-Level exams have been cancelled due to COVID-19. University students have so far been ignored in these plans and must finish all of their assignments without being able to attend classes to achieve a grade.
COVID-19 has had a major impact on many students, including those whose loved ones have fallen ill, suffer mental health issues or have to care for family members at home. The government has not currently identified this as an issue and expects students to continue as normal. To give students the option between receiving their target grade or completing the work from their final assignments would put them in the same position as other students across the country and focus on what matters most.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about university teaching, assessments and exams are a matter for individual universities, not the UK Government or Parliament.
If you have concerns about your university's arrangements for teaching and assessment you should raise these with your university or the Office for Students, which regulates the higher education sector.
We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
