Expand the JRS to include new seasonal workers contracted to start after 28 Feb

Petition Details

The government announced salary support for all contracted workers affected by business closure during COVID-19. However, the JRS appears to exclude contracted seasonal workers with start dates after 28 Feb 2020, employed in good faith. Can the government address support for these workers?

Additional Information

The JRS is a good scheme but the 28 Feb cut-off appears to exclude new seasonal workers (campsites, cafes, hotels) that started in March (or later). Business will need these staff on reopening. Having said they would guarantee 80% salaries for contracted workers, these workers are slipping through a loophole in the scheme as announced on 26 March 2020.
