STOP CHARGING IMMIGRATION HEALTH SURCHARGE FROM EU/OVERSEAS NURSES & DEPENDENTS
Immigration health surcharge (IHS) £200 introduced in 2015 to restrict tourists accessing the NHS. But now govt has tripled it within last 14 months, considering it as a alternative source of revenue. From Oct 2020 have to pay £624 for an adult and £470 for a child every year as IHS to access NHS.
Even though nurses work for NHS, family of 4 who apply for visa in the UK will be forced to pay £2188/year and £6564 for 3 years to get NHS treatments. A nurse, work full-time in NHS only earn 19000 after pension, tax and NI contribution which is only around half of earning of a average full time worker in UK who earn £36611 in 2019. The hike will force to pay around 12% of very low salary, makes frontline NHS workers extremely difficult to survive in the UK. It is against nurses rights to live.
