To allow employees to apply for Job Retention Scheme if employer fails to apply
Some employers do not wish to apply for COVID support (Job Retention Scheme) due to economic or admin burden for them, some might fail to apply due to lack of resources. Government should open scheme for employees to apply directly if they were omitted from the scheme who would otherwise qualify
Employees rely on their employers to receive grant covering 80% of their wages. Employees should not be left at the mercy of employers and should not be penalised by the fact that some employers might not make applications. Government should open a scheme for those who would normally be eligible but who missed our as their employers did not apply. Agency workers and those on 0 hours contracts are mostly affected. If employer did not apply scheme should allow direct aplications by employees.
