Petition Action

Nationalise banks that don’t step up with help during the pandemic.

Petition Details

As usual. Banks have shown that they treat the people with utter contempt. We bailed them out with trillions. Yet they now refuse to help us and instead push high % loans.

Time to have done with it and nationalise them all.

Additional Information

Banks consistently rip us off. Yet when they screw up, they come begging for us to bail them out. Which we do.

Yet now, at this unprecedented time and when we need them to repay just a tiny fraction of that support we gave them, they instead see it as an opportunity to wet their beaks & push high interest loans on unreasonable terms.
If they can’t step up, then it’s time they were driven out and brought under public control.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you want the Government to nationalise banks under certain circumstances, but it's not clear in what circumstances.

You could start a new petition stating clearly in what circumstances you want the Government to nationalise banks, or saying what you want the Government to require banks to do during the current outbreak.
