Petition Action

Make it illegal for childcare providers to charge during Covid19 confinement.

Petition Details

Families should not be pushed into unnecessary hardship by having to pay fees for nurseries that are closed, while worried about their own jobs.

Additional Information

Childcare providers, as other businesses, will be provided with financial support from the central government, they do not have a reason to charge parents (often struggling financially) "for nothing". No other business charges it's customers during closure.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The refund of childcare fees for any period of closure is a matter for individual childcare providers, not the Government or Parliament.

You could start a petition calling on the Government to set up a fund to reimburse people who have lost money because of the closure of nurseries due to the coronavirus outbreak.
