Petition Action

Stop millions of plants and flowers going to waste

Petition Details

How about every garden centre boxing up £20/£30/£40/£50 of plants. They all have payment terminals, websites and have facebook pages. We buy them on a potluck basis and they deliver them? Or collect them from an area with safe social distancing provided for.

Additional Information

It will stop millions of plants and flowers from being disposed of and help the nation's mental health during the Covid-19 Virus pandemic.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government is not responsible for arranging the sale of retail goods. This is a matter for individual retailers.

However, since you started your petition the Government has added garden centres and plant nurseries to the list of businesses that are permitted to open: www.gov.uk/government/publications/further-businesses-and-premises-to-close/further-businesses-and-premises-to-close-guidance
