Petition Action

Announce a future public inquiry into all aspects of the Coronavirus epidemic.

Petition Details

Appropriate minister to exercise powers under the Inquiry Act 2005 to announce now a future inquiry into the impact of Coronavirus epidemic on the UK and create a shadow Inquiry Team under a senior Judge as chair to commence gathering live data and evidence to inform the statutory inquiry’s work.

Additional Information

In a fast moving disaster environment, crucial data and evidence may well be lost, including through the deaths of key personnel. A well planned and structured shadow inquiry team will be authorised to gather relevant data and evidence independently of government in preparation for a future inquiry into all aspects and arrangements, including governance, public health, economic, cultural and civic matters. The work will allow for a faster, better informed response to inform future policy making.
