Mark 5th July as the National Health Service (NHS) day, a national holiday.
We ask that the British Government recognises 5th July as a national holiday in honour of the unparalleled work carried out across the NHS.
On NHS day, we celebrate access to high quality healthcare and the assurance that we will be looked after regardless of social class and status.
It's important to celebrate the work of the NHS as a whole and its individual members from porters and administrators to surgeons and midwives. This day communicates our shared drive to employ and support more nurses, doctors and midwives and to continue to support such a great service.
We are a community bound together in our beautiful islands, and this day would serve to remind us of something special that unites us; our commitment to excellent healthcare, free at the point of need.
