Increase payment to nurses in line with the nation's appreciation for the NHS.
Government must back up the current nationwide appreciation for the NHS in general, and the nursing profession in particular, by committing to a significant and permanent pay rise for our highly skilled and dedicated nurses. No nurse in the UK should have to rely on food banks.
The safety net provided by the NHS has rarely been more needed than it is now. Around the country there is a weekly show of appreciation through mass applause. However, when the current crisis has passed and we all stop applauding, nurses will be returning to food banks because they cannot afford to live on what they are paid. We must show real and lasting appreciation for our highly skilled and professional nurses by paying them appropriately. Nurses need a significant and permanent pay rise!
