Petition Action

When a politician switches allegiance to a political party during their elected term, they should immediately resign and seek a new mandate.

Additional Information

Changing allegiance to a political party during a politician's term of office is an abuse of power.

Where a politician joins another political party, they should immediately resign their seat and (if they wish) seek a new mandate from their electorate.
