Petition Action

Establish a National NHS Memorial Day

Petition Details

I call on the UK Parliament to create a National NHS Day of Remembrance, with an appropriate national ceremony, to recognise those NHS staff who have died as a direct result of their NHS service, and a National Memorial to commerate their selfless bravery.

Additional Information

In the last week alone the UK has lost at least 6 NHS front-line medical staff to COVID-19. It is likely that more will tragically join this group before the current pandemic is over.

The front-line staff of our beloved NHS - doctors, nurses, paramedics, diagnosticians, and so many support workers - dedicate themselves to saving lives. For them to lose their lives in the course of doing to their best to save others - whether from infection, assault, etc, deserves national recognition.
