Create a memorial for NHS personnel who died supporting the COVID 19 response.
Approve funding for the design and creation of a memorial, located at the National Arboretum, to recognise the efforts and sacrifice of workers and volunteers who gave their lives during the COVID 19 pandemic, to provide a focal point for gratitude, permanent recognition and personal remembrance.
During the many recent military campaigns it was agreed to establish a memorial where the sacrifice and courage of our armed forces could be commemorated. The performance by our health sector, and its many volunteers, share all of the characteristics honoured by the National Arboretum; courage, unselfishness, duty and a genuine, unwavering desire to serve a larger purpose. A memorial would provide a focal point for those wishing to remember and thank those who gave so much for so many.
