Petition Action

Ensure our young and old are never forced to die alone in hospital.

Petition Details

Ensure a communication mechanism is always in place for patients in isolated wards to connect with their loved ones, whether that's via digital methods or some type of visitor hazmat suit.

Additional Information

Covid-19 has placed our healthcare system under great strain. Sadly, one measure to mitigate this has been to prohibit patient visitors. This has resulted in young and old dying alone, sometimes without any communication in the days leading to their deaths.

We must find a longer term solution, so even in the toughest of circumstances, our loved ones are never forced to die alone.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about visitors are an operational matter for the NHS and individual NHS trusts and institutions, and not the Government or House of Commons.

NHS England has published guidance on visitors during the coronavirus oubtreak: www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2020/03/C0030_Visitor-Guidance_8-April-2020.pdf
