Petition Action

Allow garden centres to open as another essential service for the UK public.

Petition Details

Garden centres should be allowed to open just like shops, supermarkets and pet shops because they are just as essential a service for the nation's gardeners and the general public. They should at least be able to sell plants, seeds and gardening requirements to the public.

Additional Information

Gardening is an important contributor to the nation's mental health, as well as it's physical health, more so for the elderly and infirm who are currently confined to their homes for a long period because of the coronavirus pandemic. Access to seeds, plants and supplies such as compost and fertiliser etc. at this time will benefit not only gardeners, but jobs and the whole supply chain. If supermarkets etc can implement "social distancing" measures with few problems, then so can garden centres.
