Award the George Cross to doctors and nurses who die from Covid-19.
Government to recommend that the George Cross for valour should be awarded to all doctors and nurses (and other immediate frontline staff) who contract Covid-19 and die, after selflessly looking after patients suffering from this virus.
The whole nation is deeply indebted to all the healthcare staff on the frontline of the war against Covid-19, selflessly risking their own lives to try to save the lives of others. Doctors and nurses are paying the ultimate price to look after others, losing their own lives. The George Cross is the highest medal for valour in non-military situations, and these healthcare staff deserve the nation's recognition and highest honour, posthumously awarded for their courage.
