Petition Action

Extend the Job Retention Scheme to cover all employees, regardless of start date

Petition Details

Please extend the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) to include employees who started employment after the 28 February, and entitle all employees access to the same level of payment support from their employers and the government (which they need), and are not penalised for starting a new job.

Additional Information

The CJRS payments available are a valuable form of support that businesses can leverage to ensure their employees are looked after during these times.

However, the scheme is not available to support employees who started employment after 28 February, meaning that many employees who started a new job after this date are not be entitled to the benefits.

These employees deserve the same support in these times just as much, and this change will ensure they receive that support. Thank you.
