Petition Action

Introduce an optional extra tax on income to benefit the NHS. Example: 50p/week.

Petition Details

Introduce an easy to sign up for, or signed up for by default but easy to stop optionally, payment into the NHS by way of a modified tax code to support them financially. If 30 million tax payers volunteered 50p a week we could add £15mil a week into the NHS budget.

Additional Information

The NHS is a great thing and offers world class care. An optional support payment would offer the general public a chance to directly support the NHS by way of financial payment. A small cost per person but if enough people do it, a massive help for the greater good of the NHS

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The UK Government is responsible for levying taxes, which are by their very nature not optional. Deciding to donate money to an organisation is a matter for individuals, not the Government or House of Commons.
