Petition Action

Stop affluent football clubs using the governments furlough scheme.

Petition Details

Football clubs including Tottenham, liverpool, Newcastle and Celtic should not be using the governments furlough scheme, due to the cash reserves and money being paid to first team players, cash at hand and in bank based on the last accounting period and the government should investigate.

Additional Information

We would like organisations who have the funds to build £1bn stadiums (Tottenham) and to pay £9m for players (Celtic) to be excluded from the furlough scheme immediately. Football clubs who need support should be afforded assistance as required based on the cash reserves and profit/loss account.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

We wouldn't accept a petition calling on the Government to exclude a particular group of businesses, such as football clubs, from accessing Government support.
