Hold off GMC retention fees for doctors working for the NHS this year
We would be grateful if the Parliament could kindly advice the GMC to hold off the annual retention fees for doctors to be paid for this year and reimburse those who have already paid.
Following the COVID -19 outbreak, many of the families of doctors working for the NHS have seen a steep decline in income and therefore difficulties in paying for the required outgoings. We would really appreciate the support from the Parliament and the GMC whilst we put our lives to risk to protect our patient’s and save lives.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The level of registrations fees are a matter for independent regulators such as the General Medical Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council, and not the Government or Parliament.
We have published a petition calling on the Government to reimburse health care professionals for professional registration fees, which you might like to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/307399
You could start a new petition calling on the Government to fund health regulators directly, so they do not need to charge a registration fee.
