Change the guidance on the use of PPE in Primary care settings for covid 19!
I am a Practice nurse and want to change the recent guidelines on the use of PPE within primary care. The guidance states to wear PPE for patients with SUSPECTED coronavirus, those with symptoms. However patients can have coronavirus and not have symptoms. We should be wearing PPE for every patient
The recent guidance on PPE for primary care settings needs to change to fully protect all staff from coronavirus. Recently the guidance has changed for secondary care where all staff are to routinely wear PPE. However this is NOT the same for primary care workers. Guidance states to wear PPE only for SUSPECTED cases (those with symptoms). However patients can present WITHOUT symptoms and due to the close proximity we have with patients we need to be wearing PPE at all times to protect us!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The guidance for the adult social care sector on responding to the coronavirus pandemic is a matter for Public Health England, and not the Government or House of Commons.
We have published a petition calling on the Government to provide urgent support and PPE to carers during coronavirus crisis, which you might like to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/312960
