Petition Action

Reverse the decision to allow MPs to claim an additional £10,000 expenses.

Petition Details

Government just added £10,000 to the already generous £26,000 expenses MPs can claim. This is apparently to make it easier for them to work from home and support their individual offices. This decision should be reversed and the funding used for more pressing Covid-19 actions.

Additional Information

In these current times when some people have no choice but to work and risk their health, when people are furloughed with a hope to get 80% of a wage at some time, when the NHS and carers are struggling for PPE we should not be allowing our MPs to claim another £10,000 for working at home. Even worse the rules have been relaxed on proof of spend and the claim deadline extended. This is morally wrong when a large proportion of the public are being asked to live on saving while claiming only 80% of their wages.

This money should be diverted for better uses more directly for Covid-19.
