Allow the BBC to advertise
Allow the BBC to show adverts and keep the licence, this will enable a public broadcaster to be able to compete with the likes of Sky et al when bidding for sporting events.
Over the last twenty years a huge number of sporting events (cricket, rugby, football, F1, etc) have disappeared from our screens to only appear on Sky with an additional fee to view on top of their already massive subscription fees.
I wouldn't be surprised if in the future Sky or their ilk will have the viewing rights to every sporting venue on this planet, which is to the detriment of every person in the UK, but fantastic to the satelite companies and their shareholders.
