Petition Action

Scrap the £10000 additional allowance for MPs to work from home

Petition Details

The Times (09/04/2020) reported that MPs were to get an additional allowance of £10000 (on top of the existing £28000 allowance) to set up working from home during the Covid-19 virus outbreak. This along with other financial aids should be scrapped

Additional Information

The additional allowance is immoral and shows how out of touch the government is with British society

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.

You can find out more about IPSA here: www.theipsa.org.uk/about-us/

Donating money would be a decision for individual MPs, not the UK Government or Parliament.
