Give Healthcare Assistant (HCA) workers skilled status and financial recognition
Healthcare workers help to support many parts of crucial healthcare institutions and charitable organisations, yet treat them as unskilled workers, with no financial recognition or reward for the work they do. We want the Government to implement a higher-skilled status and call to review pay scales.
During Covid_19 crisis, Healthcare Assistants have worked on the front line alongside other Health Professionals. Many putting their lives on the line, making sacrifices and upholding work ethics.
Implementing a higher-skilled status and accompanying financial reward, not only adds value to the HCA' but it raises the institute's view of them and professional standards, thus encouraging more people to work within this much-needed sector, and filling the many vacancies currently unfulfilled.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government does not designate particular occupations as skilled or unskilled, except in certain limited areas such as whether an occupation is included on the Shortage Occupation List.
The Government is also not responsible for the pay of all healthcare workers, many of whom are employed privately.
We have published a number of petitions calling for all NHS to be recognised and supported, which you might like to sign:
