Petition Action

Expand the scoring system on care for adults with Covid-19 issued by NICE.

Petition Details

Include factors such as the military covenant (spouses will be relying on the military pension for financial support), BMI (data suggests that obesity is a relevant factor) and charity work (undertaken by many over 65s) as positives to be balanced against the currently overriding criterion of age.

Additional Information

The current scoring system is heavily biased towards an ageist assessment and takes no account of other equally relevant factors. The government needs this system to be seen as fair if it is to be successful.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence is an executive non-departmental public body, so the content of guidance produced by NICE is an operational matter for NICE, not the Government or Parliament.
