State-fund care worker’s wages temporarily to allow a real living wage pay rise.
Match the Scottish government’s 3.3% pay increase to social care workers during Covid-19 and state fund the minimum wage so that care workers are on par with other key workers. This pay rise should be backdated to 1st April 2020
Care worker’s currently risk their lives everyday during the Coronavirus crisis and this should be the minimum recognition to show support for their efforts. Now is the perfect time for this wage rise to act as a motivational boost to all working in care homes who urgently require the living wage.
